When an account is using 100 percent of disk quota (M: drive space), deleting messages may not be possible without some changes to the e-mail set up. The problem can be resolved by a reduction in the use of M: drive space for other files, or by requesting a larger M: drive quota. Directions for making the changes with Mozilla Thunderbird have been prepared below.
To Remove Messages with Full Quota:
- Click "Tools" at the top of the window. (image)
- This will bring up a submenu. Select "Account Settings" to bring up the next window. (image)
- Select "Server Settings" under your @egr.msu.edu account and change the "When I delete a message:" pull down menu from "Move it to the Trash folder" to "Remove it immediately." (image)
- Delete messages by selecting them and hitting the "Delete" button on your keyboard. Multiple messages can be deleted at once if you hold the control key, abbreviated "Ctrl" on the keyboard and then hitting the "Delete" key. (image)
