Wired Networking & DECS

DECS supports and will install the physical (wired) networking in the following locations:

• Engineering Building
• Engineering Research Complex (ERC)
• Engineering Research Complex South (ERC South)
• Civil Infrastructure Lab
• Composite Vehicle Research Center (CVRC)
• Jolly Road Facilities
• Michigan Biotechnology Institute (MBI)

DECS supports the backbone connections attaching the Jolly Road facilities to the campus network. Support is also provided to engineering researchers who are located at the Michigan Biotechnology Institute (MBI) building.

Networks managed by DECS provide Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) connectivity to network jacks. All rooms in the Engineering Building and Engineering Research Complex have network jacks. One or more orange network jacks should be located in the room somewhere on a wall about a foot above the floor. Select areas in the Engineering Building, Engineering Research Complex, and CVRC have Gigabit Copper Ethernet available upon request.
