EGR Wi-Fi: The EGRnet Wireless Network

EGR Wi-Fi is a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) provided by the College of Engineering and is available to all MSU faculty, staff, and students, as well as guests of engineering faculty and staff. DECS Wi-Fi There are over 115 Access Points (APs) installed strategically to provide coverage throughout the building and even in the courtyard and cafe areas. The wireless network traffic is separated from normal wired traffic for security. The APs tunnel traffic through to a group of centralized wireless controllers, managed by DECS, to ensure a consistent and effective network configuration.

EGR Wi-Fi supports the IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) standards. The EGRnet wireless network uses the SSID, or network name of EGR Wi-Fi.
